Today’s manicure is all about trying a new technique which I feel is pretty much the theme of this entire challenge! I just picked up the Limited Edition Ciate Colourfoil Manicure Set and decided to give nail foils a go! I started with three coats Ciate-Pepperminty (provided with the set) and once my nails were completely dry, used the provided foil glue and rubbed random pieces of coloured foil onto sections of my nails. The fun part was ripping off the foil almost like when waxing! Seeing the foil get transferred was oddly satisfying and I do enjoy the end results. The only thing that didn’t work out so well was that once I applied top coat, the colour from the foil started to bleed…but other than that I actually love the results!

ReplyDeleteChantel, it's super fun and fast to do! You can get the foils for a lot cheaper through sites like Born Pretty and the glue too. I hope you get a chance to try it because it's just too much fun ripping the foil off!

I am not a Ciate fan at all - not only have a lot of there polishes been watery and inferior but I was turned off to them and never recovered from their going after bloggers who were using the term Caivar mani because Ciate claimed it was 'their name to use exclusively' which was stupid - that technique had been called that and seen around a good 6-7 yrs before it got hot again. But I would look for this kit or someone's foils - I need to try this - I am loving the looks I have been seeing pop up here and there - I think Born Pretty has some foils too and I have wanted to order some water decals from them for nails too.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Ciate fan either from the caviar manicure debaucle, but the set was convenient and it gave me a chance to try ONE polish of theirs. I doubt I'd buy something of their again because I find them too snobby!

ReplyDeleteLike ONE day and that's with topcoat! The edges wear quite quickly and the foil scratches off. The plus side with this type of mani is that the wear sort of adds to the "rawness" of the look.
