I’ve talked CC Cream last week, now let’s talk BB Cream. BB cream is what we are all most familiar with especially for those of us who have already been using Asian BB creams for quite some time. Today I have a new product from French company RoC Skincare and is the first BB cream to contain retinol in its formula for ultimate anti-aging benefits. The Retin-Ox Correxion 5 in 1 Skin Perfector ($39.00) has five benefits - fighting the look of fine lines and wrinkles, improving the appearance of dark spots, smoothing uneven texture, brightening skin tone and of course, moisturizing skin in an instant!
This BB Cream has SPF 25 and is lightweight and oil-free. It is designed for normal to dry skin types and includes certain ingredients like butylene glycol (retains water/moisture) and glycerin (moisturizer). As with almost any skincare product we see out there there are also Vitamin C and E derivatives which are antioxidants that protect the skin from free radicals. I should add that this product is not paraben-free.
The retinol component in this BB Cream does come with a warning of limited sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.
You can see that the difference is slight, but if you look at my cheeks, they are less red and a bit more even in skin tone. Overall, my skin looks softer and the formula is very light and wore well on my skin throughout the day.
First of all, I love the airless pump dispenser! It made application that much neater. According to the clinical studies performed by RoC, skin should look smoother immediately after application and in 8 weeks, deep wrinkles are reduced and skin should appear more radiant. I have only been using this for 2 weeks so I cannot attest to those claims, but from my current experience, I can see immediate results upon use.
Final Verdict: What I am a bit on the fence about is the sensitivity to sunshine when using this product. It has been pretty sunny lately so I might have to only use this on cloudy days or just in Fall and Winter. The formula of this BB cream was quite light and gave me a fair amount of coverage. It didn’t fade or wear off as the hours ticked by and gave my skin a softened more even appearance. The price is a little steep for just 29mL of product and I use pretty much the same amount as I do for other foundations and BB creams. If you look at this product as more of a skincare product than a makeup product then I can rationalize the price as it becomes multi-purpose product.
