When it comes to the term “waterproof” in makeup, I only think of the MUFE Aqua line. I kid you not, I have been using MUFE’s Aqua Shadow in 20E every freakin’ day for the last 4 weeks because I don’t even need primer to have it last 10 hours in summer heat. The only thing about the Aqua Shadow line that was missing were some FUN summer colours making the Make Up For Ever Aqua Matic ($25.00) eye shadow pencils the missing link. Available in 10 shades ranging from neutral to adventurous, these pencils will let your inner artist run wild – even underwater!
The Aqua Matics are a slimmer pencil than their Aqua Shadow predecessor allowing for slightly more precision during application.
I ran my hand under tap water and then rubbed VERY hard and the colour smudged just a touch, but I doubt your eyelids will be under the same physical pressure.
I suspect I was channelling an Egyptian princess when creating this eye look, but I used MUFE Aqua Shadow in 20E as my base and I-22 over top. For mascara, I used MUFE Smoky Lash in Extra Black.
Final Verdict: I did this look yesterday and even after one round of oil-based eye makeup remover plus another one with Q-tips, I still have hints of blue close to my lash line. Once these Aqua Matics set after a minute or two, they pretty much do not budge! Pigmentation was good and the colour glided easily across my eyelid without tugging. The Aqua Shadows have a tacky almost sticky consistency which I was expecting from the Aqua Matics, but I was mistaken! I know there have been some mixed reviews on this collection, but I think it might be based on colour. I found I-22 to be a striking, metallic blue shadow that certainly lives up to the rest of the MUFE Aqua line. Colour me impressed.
