I am a huge Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector fan with 4 shades making it into my makeup collection as I found them to be one of my favourite MLBB products. Clarins recently released two brand new lip products to the Instant Light line up: Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil ($23.00 CDN) in the scent Honey* and in Raspberry* (limited edition). When I first caught a glimpse of these during the Fall preview, both had me drooling just based on how good they smelled! Especially raspberry! Mmmm, so scrumptious! Made with a blend of hazelnut, jojoba and sunflower seed/raspberry seed oils, these comfort oils promise to leave lips feeling nourished and looking shiny.
This is up there with one of the largest sponge doe-foot applicators I have ever used, but truth be told the large surface area of the applicator added to the whole “comfort” concept since my entire lip felt cushioned with every application. Shown here is Honey, which is a permanent part of the Clarins Instant Light collection and smells like a cross between honey and vanilla which I am grateful for because as much as I like honey in my tea, the smell of it can be overwhelming. Raspberry is new for Spring and I wish it was here to stay because it smells like a REAL raspberry dessert! Gah, it’s so good!!
This was the best angle I could get to show the extent of the pigmentation for each shade. Both Honey and Raspberry are VERY sheer and remind me more of a non-sticky lip gloss as opposed to an oil.
Final Verdict: I loved the concept of a lip oil, but I don’t think that’s what this product is. When I think of a lip oil, I think of a slip-slidy Vaseline-like feeling, but this was definitely more on the lip gloss side. It had a viscosity that was more dense than oil and if anything I’m glad it wasn’t runny like a real oil. When I wear either of these comfort oils, I feel like I have a moisture mask on my lips complete with shine. They aren’t tacky so you can easily layer them over your existing lip colour or wear bare for some extra shine!
Do yourselves a favour and just get Raspberry.
