Now, that Christmas is over we look towards 2017 and looks for those New Year's Eve parties! I'm old now, so those days of trying to celebrate NYE at a club are long gone, but I do usually spend the night with close friends catching up on what has been happening during the year. I couldn't let 2016 go without a little tribute to one of the prettier and luxurious collections of the holidays - the Guerlain Shalimar Holiday Collection!
I know there is a lot of history behind Shalimar and I only wish I had been bitten by the beauty bug FAR earlier in my life, but it is one of the more iconic fragrances of Guerlain built on a love story. Blue and gold were central colours to this collection which I know can be pretty scary to try to wear, but thankfully Guerlain has made them easy to wear without looking over the top. I don't know how they do it, but they always have the ability to take the boldest of colours and make them so luxurious-looking!
I had to have this beautiful beast of a bottle. The Souffle D'Or de Shalimar ($105 CDN) is a face and body powder that emits the perfect amount of glitter and scent. The dispersal is so fine that you do not have to worry about getting glitter in one spot and looking silly. Guerlain would never let you do that! Oh, and the scent? Sweet, feminine, a little like vanilla and dreamy. This is the prettiest thing on my dresser right now and I pray every night that Hugo doesn't knock it over to spite me.
The Precious Eyeshadow Palette in Sapphire and Gold ($51 CDN) is so pretty to look at! This my first Guerlain eyeshadow duo and I am glad I "saved myself" for this one! Sapphire has an iridescence to it that actually makes this dark blue quite soft and wearable. Pack it on if you want or wear it like a member of royalty. The gold shade is also fairly dual purpose in the sense that you can pat it on top like an overlay or pack it on for a more pigmented look. I won't even try to justify pricing for this since I know you can get an entire palette of shadows for $51, but this is one of those treat products that cannot be justified with common sense. You just HAVE TO HAVE IT.
OK, maybe THIS is what you have to have. If you already own a Rouge G Lipstick, this limited edition packaging might not be all that exciting, but I have been waiting for the right shade and packaging to take the plunge. The Rouge G Lipstick in #821 Rouge Saphir ($61 CDN) is this gorgeous blue-based red that is perfectly creamy and lasts all day. I had no problems wearing this at work, but I kept my sandwich-eating to a minimum! It will transfer, but with light wear you will not have to worry about bleeding or fading.
You guys know that even when I try to be wild with my colours I still end up looking like I belong in a Disney movie. I think I am just bound by what God gave me, but I hope you enjoy what I came up with!
