Two years ago, the Elizavecca Bubble Clay Mask (review) took YouTube by storm and when I finally got my hands on the mask myself it was clear why people were getting such a kick out of it! If you haven't tried it or at least watched OTHER people try it, you are in for some giggles! Ever since then, I have had my eye on Elizavecca and their piggy mascot. In my hunt for interesting sheet masks, I came across the Goggles Eye Lock in Aqua Mask on the Cosmetic Love website and pretty much fell for the packaging right there! And it's a bio-cellulose eye mask! Doesn't that sound absolutely dreamy?!
I picked up a pack of five of these masks for about $7 USD which I thought was a great price considering these were bio-cellulose masks which tend to retail for more than conventional cotton masks. The goals of this mask are pretty simple - hydrate, reduce puffiness, brighten and cool all with this fermented coconut jelly set of "goggles".
This mask is essentially the exact same thing as a regular bio-cellulose mask though from looking at the ingredients, the focus is more on brightening and hydration. It still comes sandwiched in between two layers that must be separated so again be careful not to tear the material. Once the mask is on the face, position it as comfortably as you can without the mask touching your lower lash line. You can also lay back and relax and keep the little "eye flaps" on your lids.
Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Niacinamide (brightening), Betaine, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Panthenol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Xanthan Gum, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Allantoin, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Adenosine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Donkey milk (yes, actually from donkeys), Disodium EDTA, Fragrance
The couple who mask together stay together! I asked hubby if he wanted to try this as his beard prevents him from getting the full benefits of full face sheet masks and he willingly agreed! We both found the mask cooling once on and it had very little fragrance. After 15 minutes I removed my mask (hubby got distracted with video games and left his on for 30 minutes) and massaged in the remaining essence which left a slightly tacky residue around my eyes which took about an hour or two to disappear.
Final verdict: For the fun factor of photo opps like these, sure this is a fun mask, but I would much rather pay for a full face mask which ALSO covers my eye area while providing the same if not more skin benefits. I could see how this might be great after a late night or flight, but undereye gel patches would work too and aren't quite as finicky to use as bio-cellulose masks.
The Elizavecca Milkypiggy Bio-Cellulose Goggles Eye Lock In Aqua Mask is available at a number of Korean beauty e-tailers.
